[Siren Classic ManLove Erotic Alternative Fantasy Romance, M/M, HEA] Stavros Siracusa travels the world collecting antiques and artifacts that are hard to find. He's built a reputation as the go-to man when someone is looking for something specific. But he had no idea he would find a gargoyle statue at a garden party in his own hometown that would change his entire world. When sorcery interfers in finding his Beloved, Xander willingly allows the Gods of Olympus to place him in hibernation as a stone statue. A drop of his Beloved's blood and the strong beat of his heart draws Xander from his deep slumber and tosses him into a world that is more dangerous than any battle he has ever fought. Armed with the knowledge that they were meant to be together, Stavros and Xander accept the fate of the Gods. But the Brotherhood is up to their old tricks and betrayal will come from within, tearing the two lovers apart. When Stavros gets kidnapped, Xander isn't even sure the Gods can save the most precious thing in his world--his Beloved. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

I like this new series by Stormy Glenn of ancient "gargoyle" Guardians who are brought into our time so that they may be with their fated soul mates, but there's a few minor quibbles I have about it. The premise is that the three fate weavers on Olympus weave the life-threads of souls, determining how long they live, who they are fated to be with, when they're born, etc. Dark forces seem to be at work trying to upset this balance though, and the gargoyle Guardians who fought so hard to protect Olympus are being denied their mates. Their life-threads can't be properly spun, so the goddesses take drastic action, bringing some of them into the present time so they could be with their mates, and putting others into deep slumber, awakening in our time when their mate is finally born.

In this second book of the series, Xander is one such Guardian who has been asleep for centuries awaiting the time when his mate will be born and find him. When that happens, he will emerge from his stone-like statue form and he will have a "beloved" to cherish and guard. His beloved does indeed find him, and he awakens, only to have his beloved kidnapped by an evil organization that views the guardians to be monsters and are determined to destroy them. The characters are fun, and the situation is very entertaining. These guardians are ancient and don't understand things like cell phones, or even glass windows. Out of all of the Stormy Glenn series though, this one feels a bit disjointed. Keep in mind that it's still very fun and very sexy, and you do manage to care for the characters, but it's not as smooth as her other stories.

For example, these ancient guardians are pretty quick to use modern expressions. Also, considering the evil organization is aware of the guardians and dedicated to eradicating them, they seem totally ineffectual in their efforts. One character who is mislead is unnecessarily killed by the guardians, making some of the violence seem unnecessary. Some things are a bit unclear (such as why the first guardian was transported to the future, but the 2nd was forced to wait centuries in slumber). And there's also a moment of deus ex machina (literally) as a goddess appears when needed to fix the plot.

In spite of those, the characters are fun, the plot is interesting, and you do wind up caring for the characters. So I bumped up the rating to four stars since it still is a fun read.

I read this book first then went and brought the first I love this book I teared up a lilbit smh my crybaby ass lol..
it was great fantastic I loved it I can't wait for the next one . keep up the great work your readers need you.
I love to read saga's! Couldn't put it down! Waiting for more from this author!!!!!!
I really enjoyed the first book and liked that it was continued into a series. I can't wait to read more of this group. Stavros has met his match in Xander. I loved it!
I was so happy when this book finally came out in e-format (why such a delay??), but after reading it, I have to say I'm very disappointed. I really liked the first book in this series, but this one has holes in both the plot and the character development that you could drive a semi through! I am rarely disappointed in a Stormy Glenn book, but this is definitely one of those times. The plot jumps around without explanation; the characters, particularly the Guardian, are poorly developed. And the story tosses in a couple of additional gargoyles with little or no explanation or purpose. They rescue one poor gargoyle from a cage in the villian's lair, and never even talk to the poor guy! I hope the next book in the series (which I will sample before I buy!) brings the series back in line with the first book.
